Aureon Laboratories Awarded Rising Star Award

Yonkers, New York, May 2, 2006 / – Aureon Laboratories announced today that it has been awarded the Yonkers Business Week “Rising Star” Award for 2006 by the City of Yonkers. Among Aureon Laboratories’ accomplishments was the launch of Prostate Px™, a unique predictive test that can provide patients and their physicians with a personalized determination of their risk for prostate cancer recurrence following removal of the prostate.

“I congratulate Aureon Laboratories for being recognized during Yonkers Business Week and for being the recipient of the Yonkers “Rising Star” Award,” said Mayor Amicone. “This award recognizes the essential role this company now plays in the development of our city. The City of Yonkers is proud to be the home of Aureon Laboratories and looks forward to seeing it grow and prosper in our City.”

The Rising Star award recognizes companies/individuals who make significant impact during their early years in the industry. Aureon was created to advance the state of the art in pathology - a fundamental science in the diagnosis and management of cancer. Prostate Px represents the first in a series of unique prognostic cancer tests designed to provide insight into cancer recurrence.

“We are very pleased to have been selected for this award. Aureon Laboratories is committed to improving the management of prostate cancer for the patients we serve as well as to the further development of the biomedical sciences in the greater New York area”, said Vijay Aggarwal, PhD, CEO and President of Aureon Laboratories.

Prostate Px provides physicians with a unique insight into a patient's chance of developing a cancer recurrence following the removal of the prostate. The physician receives a Prostate Px score for both the probability of PSA Recurrence (bio-chemical recurrence) and Clinical Failure (distant metastasis). The results are based on Aureon’s unique Systems Pathology platform which integrates clinical history, tissue pathology and molecular analyses. Prostate Px, in conjunction with traditional methods of disease analysis, can provide patients and their caregivers valuable insight when making post-operative therapy decisions such as planning appropriate adjuvant therapy.
